certification program was established in 1985 by a certification committee under the direction of the NSCA
Board of Directors. The committee’s first task was to initiate the Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) program. That was followed in 1994 by the introduction of the NSCA-Certified Personal Trainer(NSCA-CPT) program.

Professionals (AAHFP). The Academy was founded in 1992 by Michael K. Jones,MS, RPT and Jeffrey Wright, RPT to "Bridge the Gap Between Health Care and

industry have precipitated the need for AAHFP to provide advanced educational
forums and certifications for fitness professionals. Sinces its inception, AAHFP has

chiropractic offices, health/fitness clubs and in client's homes. AAHFP continues to
develop standards and guidelines for fitness professionals to use when training
clients with special needs and post-rehab concerns. AAHFP also presents research
regarding the benefits and the utilization of supervised conditioning programs for
clients with medical conditions to the medical community and insurance industry.
